Event Details
Many of the key technologies powering our conversion to a clean energy future – such as electric vehicles and battery storage systems for renewables - depend upon certain rare earth minerals and other key commodities such as lithium. Many of these are now in increasingly shorter supply or are tied up in parts of the world subject to sanction or other trade restrictions. This is resulting in a variety of supply chain shortages and disruptions. Businesses are pursuing a range of creative solutions to address some of these supply chain challenges including top tier automotives acquiring direct interest in mines, multinational industrial giants entering into offtake and other arrangements to tie up access to critical minerals and large strategics directly into exploration opportunities with the hope securing these hard to access commodities essential for the future success of their businesses. This panel will explore some of these challenges and solutions and what the future may hold for our economy as we address these supply chain bottlenecks.
