Government Funding for Critical Minerals Projects: How to Access and Comply

Canada’s Critical Minerals Strategy includes targeted federal program funding to support the development of critical mineral projects and value chains.

This session will provide insight for companies in the critical minerals sector seeking access to government funding at the federal and provincial level.

The speakers will address what to expect in the application process and legal considerations relating to funding agreements, and to identify and mitigate lobbying law risks when engaging with public officials by covering what constitutes lobbying in the extractive sector (for example, rules related to disclosing lobbying activities, conflicts of interest, offering gifts, benefits and/or hospitality to public officials and accepting and disclosing government funding), legal and reputational risks for officers and directors, and enforcement activities.
